SA30 build 1542 version 1.72

I’m convinced there are some changes in the new firmware relating to how the amp sounds. It sounded superb before but since updating it sounds even better like it has a warmer sound.

Interesting. I had the same impression

Have you tried without DiracLive/DSP processing?

I have the exact same impression.

I’ve had the amp for about a month now, and I enjoyed it greatly from the beginning, but after the first two weeks, it started sounding a bit dry with certain recordings.

At first I thought it was my idea, then I assumed it had something to do with my constant experimenting with different Dirac filters.

Anyway, I did the firmware update the first day it was available and, when I reset everything and reloaded my filters, everything sounded noticeably better to me: more transparent, dynamic and inviting.

Glad I’m not alone in noticing this!

Is there a way to disable Dirac/DSP processing?

You can enable “direct” via the sound menu. At the moment that is the only setting I use when listening to kusic. Sounds great to me.

Yes, but what I mean is for digital inputs.

Button “AUDIO”
Set to “No curve”

Is this really the problem? 8ms?

No, I have no Dirac set, it’s inherent approximately 150ms delay within the audio module. Regardless if the input is HDMI, Toslink or other. Arcam confirmed themselves.

The only way to get around it is to have analog input on direct mode, but the internal DAC is useless until delay is fixed.

Hi, we are aware of the issue and it is down to the latency in the audio module - unfortunately, a quick fix is unlikely, but it is still very much on our radar.”

Does the lipsync feature could help you ?

Thank you
I will try the Arcam CD player, I still need to pick it up.
For now I have audiolab cdt6000, but it only has digital output.

Silly question maybe but I’m still for now on 1.72/1206

As it’s always worked first time for me I tend to use the web client to update but it’s saying no new version is available.

Anyone any idea if they have got that to work or is this only available to download and upgrade via usb?

With all the troubles I hear renaming files, restarting etc. I’m tempted to wait until the web client option works

I’ve updated using a web client, but not automatic update.
Download firmware from Arcam website, extract ZIP archive and upgrade using this option:

That’s what i always do, and works like a charm.

All OK with mine - Audiolab CDT transport to BD input. Though I always get a ‘not supported’ message on BD (which works fine) … not sure why.

Ok thanks. It’s the “check update” that seems to be doing nothing

Did the choose file option involve you having to rename the SWU file or not?

No, i was just extracting the file without changing filename, and everything worked just fine.

Hi,

Does anyone else experience lots of issues with spotify streaming after the upgrade? When i connect from phone and start a song i would see time starting to tick, but no sound is coming from the amp. Changing or scrolling a song does not help. Volume control from spotify also either lags a lot or does not work completely. Same issues when using android or iphone. Restart of amp helps, but only for one time. This release was meant to focus on streaming, but the result is a disaster, much worse then previous version.

Are you gaming with Arcam?
