Unfortunately that’s all empty… no name, serial number ‘unavailable’, no IP-address. The Arcam app can’t find it either. The stored IP-addresses do not connect. Google Home can’t find it. It’s like the Arcam does not exist.
Either the Russians love our Arcams too, or it’s like the AEG-update that made a steamer think it was a microwave. I’m now waiting until my Arcam starts to freeze😎.
That’s really helpful but I can’t help thinking that Arcam architecture for its amp isn’t quite at the level of the iphone! We do need a more seamless approach from Arcam.
I also had my device stuck with the “Net Updating” message. I left it untouched overnight and then turned it off and on this morning. Happily a message “Update complete” then appeared ! I did the System and Net reset after which the same message “update complete” again appeared. So pleased that I can now continue with the rest of my life and not be forced to do firmware upgrades manually !
So glad to hear some of you have found solutions. Mine does not allow me to reset network, it gets stuck in the menu and I can’t confirm the network reset. I will have to wait for solutions from my retailer or Harman themselves (respond time 7 days, and if that’s the thing with every follow up mail after that, it will take a while) and hope I can listen to music again in the future. 5 days without music already😪. And if I have to send the amp in, it will take a lot longer. Makes me sad, such an expensive machine that does not operate, because of some horrible bug in an update.
Maybe they can send me an USB-stick with the right firmware, I don’t know .

My soul was crushed exactly like that. One day it just does what it needs to do, make music, and then the next it says “ey I’ll update and… ow I bricked myself, sorry, hope you know the internet”.
Maybe they can send me an USB-stick with the right firmware, I don’t know .
In all seriousness, it was not really me, but a more tech-enabled friend who fixed my musical brick, and in just as much seriousness, I can relay your problems, and maybe indeed send you the USB-stick?
That is so kind of you! Where are you from? I live in the Netherlands. I will wait a few days for respond from retailer / Harman, but if that’s the only solution they come up with, it would be great if I could try this option.
Live in a neighbouring country! We should figure out PM’s, but right now I gotta go for a bit. I have a gut feeling your music will be back sooner than you were mourning.
Thank you all; I found my usb-adapter (on the Dirac microphone🤪) and ordered a usb-stick. With the instructions here I should be able to blow life back in my beloved SA30 the next couple of days…I hope.
Attempt to install it from a USB stick connected to the device using the menus if they are available to you. If the menus are unavailable try and install it using the method in this post.
If that works attempt to update to the latest firmware but rename it image.swu first.
After some hours of useless attempts I finally succeeded to put the amp back to firmware first and to latest update after that with usb. Everything fine…it went just according the instructions of you folks and the delivered ARCAM guideline that I received from my retailer…. until shortly after reboot / restart.
The amp automatically shot off and now only does ‘tick-tick…tick-tick…tick-tick….’, like a switch turning on and off over and over again. No response on remote control. Just the red standby light.
Surgery successful, patient dead???
Does anyone have an idea what’s the problem now? And if there is a solution thinkable? I want my music back so badly😪
Yes, that’s the way I was able to perform the update with the same procedure after that. But after both successful actions the amp is only ticking, not doing anything else anymore.
Thank you for the information, despite it is bad news. I expected something like this. I hope I will get a machine on loan in the meantime. Good to know I’m not the first and only with the problem, that gives hope that it can be solved.
A miracle happened… 24 hours later I switched it on to see what it would do… and then it started to finish its update! No clicks, just normal! System reset, network reset, everything set back the way I want it, Dirac filter uploaded… Wow, she’s back! And sound is even better than it was before, like Lady Blackbird is sitting on my lap… (Dali Ikon 6 MK2). Me happy!!
Thank you all for the help and information, very supportive! And for whom wanted to know: yes, the reset to original firmware, with the ‘service’ button on the back works… takes some nerves, but in the end it worked.
I think this whole thread exposes a severe shortcoming of the Arcam firmware updating procedure . The updating progress bar has not worked properly on my Arcam since updating back in August 2021. Nothing like buying a new 3000.00 dollar receiver and having it bricked by over the air updating a month or so after you buy it. Mercy the dealers must have huge patience with the Arcam reps. I really love my SA 30, but I am retired and have the time to fiddle with it. If I was still a busy working guy, I would have returned it many months ago. Maybe their sales slogan should be " Arcam, for the computer savvy music lovers everywhere"…
Hi Roelene,
I had exactly the same issue with my SA30 about a week ago and tried everything that I could think of to get it to work but without success. I have an engineering degree so you have thought that, if it was fixable, I would have been able to do it. But, unfortunately, I couldn’t so I called the dealer that I bought it from and they suggest a couple of things that I hadn’t thought of and I tried those but still no luck. Anyway, I ended up driving 50 miles to the dealer and sat with two of their guys while they worked on it, which included half a dozen calls to ARCAM in the states (no response from ARCAM UK). The guys in the states suggest a number of things to try but none of these worked either and, in the end, one of the USA guys declared it a “brick” and suggested that it be returned to ARCAM in the UK for assessment and repair or replacement. The best explanation for the problem was that the SA30 had tried to do a software update and that this had somehow got corrupted. In the mean time my dealer loaned me their NAIM Uniti Atom while they sort out my SA30. Its great to have an alternative like that to try but I can report that despite its sometimes odd controls and features, I prefer the SA30. I think that this proves that a good dealer is worth a lot when you are talking about complex HiFi equipment. I hope that this helps and that you manage to get your SA30 fixed with minimum disruption.
