Setting up Dirac Live

I only just yesterday started messing around with Dirac Live. I’ve had the unit a good month and a half but just hadn’t put the effort into the home correction program. So while trying to navigate thru the set up I quickly realized I didn’t exactly know what I was doing…mostly with the Volume set up. Even without properly setting Dirac up I could see the benefits and the improvements it made. I found a video on YouTube, and even though it is for Emotiva’s home theater processor’s it gave me some good insight as to how to set up Dirac properly.

I will post the link if anyone is interested, but mostly I was looking for any tips that us Arcam users may have. The Emo video says to set the Mic volume to where when the room is quiet to -40db, and set the Master volume to where the Main speaker output is around -20db I believe. Is this similar to what others here do? Thank you in advance to anyone that has any input on the subject.

i use the play buttons under the left and right speakers when configuring dirac to figure out a moderate volume with the white noise. once i put the volume way too high without testing and i was afraid it blew my speakers up. didnt, got lucky, but those buttons help to figure out a moderate volume level. then go for a good setup (i like narrow focus since i have a distinct listening position) and measure.

Thanks for sharing that, and you are not alone I had to do several before I got anything working well enough and even then I feel like I had no idea what I was doing

My first improvement so far was to replace the power cable included in the box, incredible change, then Dirac and sounds great. Not a fancy cable, I made myself using Mogami cable or Canare.
