Hi Folks,
Newbie here.
I wanted two things from amp - Room Correction, and Streaming.
Found a demo unit of ARCAM SA 30 - and thought, this would serve the purpose.
Challenge 1 - Subwoofer Phase Setting
GPT told me DIRAC (on ARCAM SA30) would take care of it for me. Unless I am doing wrong, i don’t think I am suppose to detect sub on Dirac Application. So no way it will auto correct my phase - via DIRAC. How did folks here overcame that?
Challenge 2 - DIRAC Setting
I am not seeing any difference (minuscule by ear) between Dirac (Orange & green) and Non Dirac on REW.
What I may be doing wrong? I referred below video and followed it all the way:

Hi, and welcome.
If I remember correctly, SA30 does not have a Dirac Live Bass Control license, and this is necessary to correct sub phase. I could be wrong, so wait other people to confirm.
How are you sending the amp the test signal when you perform your REW measurements?
Anyway, I suggest you to apply a 1/3 octave filter and to superpose the two measurements. I admit that by eye they seems identical thought, and none of them seems to adhere to the target curve.
In my case, the difference is quite evident.
I did not see that there is a big problem with your measurements. They fall down at 4 kHz. Are you using airplay?
It looks like a problem of timing: try to use acoustic timing reference.
Thanks Valerio for getting back, really appreciate it.
I will tinker and see if i can follow this:
" suggest you to apply a 1/3 octave filter and to superpose the two measurements."
And yes, I am using Airplay. Thanks for the tip. The phase setting in my sub had been killing me, and I thought Dirac Live would lighten that burden for me. Will also check with “use acoustic timing reference.”
The SA30 has no managed subwoofer output. This means that you can’t see it as an individual channel in Dirac.
So you have to try to blend in your sub as good as possible before using Dirac Live.
I did this by ear, and the result was really mediocre. But then I ran a DL calibration (curtain 500Hz) and the result in bass was mindblowing. I still don’t know how it’s possible but the calibration made my low bass much more controlled. I even lowered my target curve two times from +6dB to +2dB. Bass goes smooth down to 20 Hz now.
I can imagine it depends on your Sub and main speakers though…
Ok, so, first of all, you need to use the acoustic timing reference with Airplay. Moreover, you need a small trick in order to be sure that you are measuring the good Dirac profile. Everytime you want to change it to take a measurement, play some music through Airplay, and during this time, change the profile. Then perform the measurement. This should work.
Got It, i was only measuring using REW frequency check.
Do not hesitate to show here your measurements!
