I bought the integrated amplifier JBL SA750 a couple of months ago. And everything was fine till a couple of days ago. The system says in the screen “Net Updating”, please check the image attached. I tried a lot of things. When the system is “ON”, no one function works, I can no change inputs, volume, balance, and also, no one function since the remote control works. I have left the device on for hours to see if anything happens, and nothing happened. I also left it connected to the network via an ethernet cable for a whole night, nothing happens either. I can’t even check the IP address because nothing works, the screen with the “Net Updating”, is permanent, and it’s impossible to make any changes. I also tried to do a general reset of the hole button on the back, and nothing happens. In an arkam site support I found the Software V1524, I downloaded the zip, decompressed it, and used it via a memory stick directly to the amplifier, and the same, nothing happens.
Hi dnsk, welcome to the forum! The JBL SA750 and Arcam SA30 share a common platform. From what source did you obtain the firmware? I hope you didn’t flash the latest SA30 firmware onto your JBL because I think it’s not compatible. If this is the case you might have bricked your device.
thanks so much for your reply. I had feedback from harman, they sent a PDF called “revival guide”, I did the the first part and it works. But now my doubt it is, should I do the second part? I mean… the number 14, this is was what Harman sent:
Download the software bundle by clicking here. You will download a zipped
folder called “SA750 v1542 Reflash Bundle.zip”
Unzip/extract this folder (some computers will do this automatically). Inside the
folder you will find 2 more folders named “Step 1 V1206 V1.72” and “Step 2
V1542 V1.72”
Double click on the “Step 1 V1206 V1.72” folder. Inside you will find a file named
“image.swu”
Copy this image.swu file to a blank USB memory stick.
Power off the SA750 from the hard power switch on the rear of the unit
immediately above the mains inlet socket (picture 1).
Insert the USB memory stick into the rear of the unit (picture 2).
Depress the recessed service switch (above the CD input connector sockets) and
continue to keep it depressed (picture 2).
Power the unit on whilst keeping the service button depressed.
Keep the service button depressed for at least 30 seconds after power on.
Release the service button.
Leave the unit for at least 30 minutes to update.
Perform a NET reset (MENU > SYSTEM SETTINGS > NET RESET).
Perform a SYSTEM reset (MENU > SYSTEM SETTINGS > SYSTEM RESET).
Functionality should now be revived. To update to the most current software
version repeat points 3-13 above but using “Step 2 V1542 V1.72” at point 3.
I think the procedure is two fold: first a so called revive (restore to a functional baseline?) and second update to latest firmware. Both steps use different firmware packages. Why are you in doubt to perform the second part? If I recieved detailed instructions from the support departement from the manufacturer then I would not hesitate.
my concerns were because it is impossible to find info or support for this JBL SA750. I received the instructions via email and two files “image” to make the updates. But these images aren’t available in any site or support chat. You to request an advice via email, sounds super weird for a gear like this, obsolete. Because the price also.
Hi dnks, nice to read it works. You’re welcome. I can imagine instructions can be overwelming sometimes. If you might have any other question in the future then feel free to ask. If you cannot find any information on your JBL SA750 then this forum is also a good source for your amp

o NOTE! The file MUST be called image.swu. If you copy the file to a
location where there is already a file called image.swu your computer
may rename the file automatically (for instance as “image.swu (1)”.
Please double check that the file is called “image.swu” when on the
memory stick.

Hey folks. Quick question: is the JBL SA750 receiving the same firmware as the Arcam SA30? I consider getting one of these amps, with the JBL matching much better with my room’s aesthetics. However, bearing in mind the software issues these devices face, I would like to get the same level of support on the software. Cheers.
With the SA30 remote you have to select “amp” for certain buttons to work because it’s a multi function remote. So if you pressed “CD” for example it’s then in”CD mode” trying to control the CD player primarily and not the amp. Not sure if JBL is the same but worth a shot. this is a fairly common mistake amongst new SA30 users.
