SA30 build 910, version 1.42

FYI communication with Arcam Support.

Spotify playback is only via Chromecast or airPlay although this can be achieved through the Spotify app.

Tidal playback is possible through Chromecast and airPlay. It is also possible with full High Res MQA unfolding playback through our free UPnP app Musiclife.

*Tidal connect is planned but is not here yet.

USB audio (i.e. audio from a PC or MAC as opposed to from a memory stick) is not supported.

*Roon certification is already underway but is not finished yet.

Your case number: xxxxxxx

@arcam_paul Do u know if at the next Firmware we will have Roon or Tidal connect ?

@iarvanit

I can’t answer that, sorry.

I think I’ve just encountered an extreme case of this case.

As we are looking for a bigger TV, we’ve had the opportunity to use the TV of a friend for a while. I notices a high pitched rattling noise in the power adaptor of this TV. Anyway, I connect the TV using an optical-out to the SA30. I’ve also connected my DVD-player using a coax cable to the SA30 and a HDMI to the TV.

I turn everything on: no sound trough the SA30. Not on the coax, not on the optical input. When I reinsert the coax, I hear 1 sec sound and then it stops. I reboot the SA30, as this sometimes helps. The result: the SA30 keeps starting up in an infinite loop without finally powering it’s self on.

Help?! I suspect the power source of the TV, and change it for another one from the same TV brand. I power everything on and… the SA30 powers up without problems and there’s SOUND both using the optical and the coax inputs!

I was quite astonished of such a clear case of electrical noise (of the old power source) on the sound quality which was basically just silence.

I’ve repeated this and it resulted in the same behavior. Just leaving the power source connected to the grid, didn’t have any negative impact.

@arcam_paul I hope this helps Arcam to further look into the cause and find a solution.

Well I said in an earlier post that if I plug my SA30 straight into a wall socket and listen to music during the day when there is a lot of noise on the mains I will inevitably get the distortion at some point. When I plug into my mains conditioner I no longer get it.

I know you told us what conditioner you are using, but I can’t find the post. What brand and model is it? Thanks!

It was the IsoTek Aquarius.

This video is a really good independent review.

Thanks! I will check it out.

Hi there, So how are we doing, is there any news, when can we try the new firmware?
Changing the inputs all the time because of distortion is a pain.
Thanks

Hi @JaroDro

We are putting together the next beta which addresses the teething problems the group found with the previous beta. Once this is ready we will open up the test program to everyone.

Do you have timeframe for official release ?

I don’t have a time frame for a public release at this time. There are a couple of issues raised in the beta builds that weren’t in the last public version so we want to get those ironed out first.
