Using the Arcam SA30 with the native remote when switched to CD. The remote does not work.
Actual result
When I listen to a CD on my FMJ 23 and I switch off the SA30 or it goes to sleep mode, I cannot switch it on again with the remote because it is still set to CD. I can control my CD player with the SA30 remote. But switching on can only be done by using the hard ON/OFF switch on the device.
Expected result
That I can switch on the SA30 using the SA30 remote and that I get real support from ARCAM.
Additional information
I also mentioned this to ARCAM support and got back the message that they would investigate it. Blah, blah, blah, 6 month later still nothing. I wonder if I will ever buy ARCAM again. It is a small thing but I’m very worried about the support. But the sound is good although I think with rock the sound moves to the middle. But that is my personal opinion.
It’s a multi device remote, that doesn’t mean it works with all devices at once for all functions, if you press CD it switches to operate the CD player. Press AMP and it changes back. Then you can press the power button. HTH.

No, it is really not working well. I use the remote also for the CD player in combination with the SA30 in CD input signal and that works well. Only switching off the SA30 does not work and when in sleep mode. The remote does nothing until the SA30 is fully switched off by hand and on again.
And you checked the channel setting?
What happens if you don’t use either remote for functions, except the SA30 remote to turn it on and off?
I can’t think of anything else. Behaviour with my SA30 and CDS50 works as expected. I doubt it’s related to your CD player, assuming you definitely pressed the AMP button to switch functions back.
I’d return the SA30 to the dealer if possible, maybe ask to test with a different CD player too
Been thinking about this a little more having reviewed the SA30 manual. Here are some things to try out……
First of all change the remote channel code from the default 16 to 19. You have to set this on both the remote and in the amp settings. See manual for instructions.
If that makes no difference, try unlocking the CD input function so you can programme it. And change to one of the alternate code listed. You may have info on what the older CD player you have functions with, otherwise will be trial and error following the table in the manual
…
That’s what I’d try before giving up anyway

The remote is a strange beast. But for volume and powering devices it works well enough (if you remember to switch back to Amp before turning it off).
I have a CDS50 and prefer the digital outputs (into the BD SPDIF connection) and I have a GoldNote phono pre (into PVR) and Zen DAC II SE (into STB) for HQPlayer, PlexAmp and LMS services.
While volume works everywhere, pretty much nothing else works unless I want to switch to the CD input for playing CDs. But it is functional enough for volume which after turning it on is 99% of what I use it for
